Late Night Shopping

What’s on in Lewes this year…

From offers in shops to activities around the town, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

There will be street performances from the castle down through Cliffe High Street including Choirs, Handbell Ringers and LGB Brass.

The only traffic will be the horse and carriage ride, Morris dancers and the Knots of May will be showing us how best to keep warm but for those not feeling that energetic the roasted chestnuts and mulled wine should do the trick.

As more details are confirmed, they will be added here.

6pm prompt – calling all Firefires to the Gun Garden! (aka children dressed up in costumes with LED wow factor). Prizes for the best dressed judged by Councillor Zoe Nicholson.

The Choir from Lewes Old Grammar and musicians from the East Sussex Music Service will be performing throughout the evening.

Admission to the Barbican Museum is also free on the night. There’ll be activities in the galleries and a children’s trail around the museum.

The Christmas Craft Fair returns to Lewes Town Hall (Fisher St. entrance) with over 60 stalls. You’ll be sure to find that perfect gift! Free Entry and open from 5pm.

Santa will be stopping off at Lewes House to hear all your Christmas wishes, so thinking caps on, kids. For the grown-ups – mulled wine while you wait.

You’ll find festive stalls, food retailers and children’s fairground rides in the precinct. Look out for the Silver Sounds Samba Band and Morris Dancers.

For those watching their Christmas waistlines take advantage of drop-in sessions at the Body Happy gym.

Once again, Harvey’s Brewery will host their traditional yard event from 6pm-9pm where you’ll be able to enjoy music, a hog roast and BBQ, vintage vehicles, heavy horses and a well-stocked bar serving the newly released Christmas Ale.

Win great prizes while getting your shopping done: take part in The Town Trail.

Pick up a copy of the December issue of Viva Lewes. Visit 12 shops on the trail and collect a stamp and a letter in each one. Collect all 12, guess the anagram and fill in your details.

There’s a competition for the best dressed window and Deputy Mayor Stephen Caitlin has the tricky job of picking the winners.
