About

Following The Breadcrumbs: How is it that an image can say so much?
with Children's book Illustrator and artist Sarah Horne
Saturday 24th August 2-4pm

In this workshop Children's book illustrator and exhibiting Artwave artist Sarah Horne will talk on her professional practice as an Illustrator in children's publishing and her artistic practice. She will touch on where her ideas come from, and how meditative play informs her own artwork on and off the illustrated page.

We will explore together the following:

- Cultural symbols (for example- signifying icons ie: Why does a red rose say romance?)
- How to read an image- what does it say and communicate to you? Why colour is powerful.
- Following the breadcrumbs of an idea, and the concept of 'brass rubbing' to find an idea.
- Common blocks and hinderances to the creative flow.
- Tools to get round blocks and hinderances and find the advantage.

The latter part of the workshop will be given over to creative listening and play. Please bring your sketchbook/ notebook and favourite drawing/ writing materials- paper and pencils will also be available.

This workshop is for those interested in expanding and growing their creativity.

Important sidenote: You do NOT need to be a pro to attend this fun, friendly and low-pressure workshop.

Free to attend, with optional donation to the work of the church. Please book online at www.trinitylewes.org/artwave
