Accompany Helen Lacey (soprano), Toshi Ogita (tenor) and Max Bilbe (piano) as they unpack the drama of Wolf's songs in Italienisches Liederbuch, Staged. Discover snapshots of 17th century Italy as seen through a German lens through this original staging, with a pre-talk given by Lieder expert, Richard Stokes.
This is the second recital of a new Lewes Music Group chamber music concert series, Chamber Music in Art. The aim of every concert in this series is to render high-level music-making an intersensory experience, involving either visual art, poetry or film.
Our performers in Italienisches Liederbuch, Staged are young musicians who are either studying or have recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, namely soprano Helen Lacey, tenor Toshi Ogita, and pianist Max Bilbe. The pre-talk is being given by Lieder expert, Richard Stokes, author of the new book: The Complete Songs of Hugo Wolf: Life Letters, Lieder.
Set in the picturesque Lewes, Cliffe Hall's beautiful interior is the perfect setting for this innovative interactive approach to chamber music.
Book with confidence – we aim to keep our audiences safe during these COVID times so in the event of government rule changes, you will get a full refund. However, any donations made to the recital series are appreciated and go straight to the musicians and to the maintenance of the hall's piano.
