Workshop: Contemporary Kokedama

Learn the ancient Japanese art of Kokedama in this two-hour workshop led by our shop neighbour Nikki Turnwald of Hand Spun Botanics.

Come and get creative, ground and be mindful, while learning the art of Kokedama.

Literally translated, kokedama means Moss-Ball and is the wabi - sabi artform of the Japanese string garden.

This workshop takes a twist on the traditional kokedama and teaches how to finish in coconut fibre for a more contemporary look.

A summary of what you will learn at this 2-hour workshop:

An introduction to kokedama, the history and mindful concept when creating one
A choice of easy to care for plants and help choosing the right one for you and your home
How to prepare and mix your own soil
Creating the moss ball, from soil to moss and string
Wrapping and finishing your kokedama with coco fibre
You will head home with all the knowledge to care for you new kokedama and all you need to hang it
Workshop suitable to all abilities. Come prepared to get muddy hands and it's best to remove any precious jewellery.

Tickets are sold per person. We do not send out a physical ticket, your email confirmation is your ticket. Please contact us via email if you need any further info. Workshop tickets are excluded from any online discounts.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds for workshop bookings, but we understand that things might come up, so we are happy to defer your booking to a future workshop if need be. If you would like to make any changes to your booking we kindly ask for 7 days notice. Please let us know via if you need to make a change.

All of our workshops aim to start promptly. With this in mind we politely request that you arrive 10 minutes before the workshop starts. If you are running late for the workshop, please let us know via email.

Covid-19 Info:

There will be a maximum of six people per workshop. Each participant will have their own workspace. Hand sanitiser will be provided. Please do not visit if you have symptoms or are feeling unwell.
