Autumn at Fitzroy, September 26th-October 4th at Fitzroy House, Lewes

We invite you, neighbours and friends, to join us for an autumn season of performing arts events curated by and for the people of Lewes, in the breathtaking setting of Fitzroy House. 

We are dreaming of restoring and reopening the building as an arts venue in the heart of town.  This is the first step. Come in, sit down, join in!

Autumn at Fitzroy is a series of performances and events taking place at Fitzroy House in Lewes between 26th September-October 4th 2026.  Following a process of public consultation during summer Open Mornings, we are trying out the most-requested use for the building: a public centre for the arts.

"The jewel in the crown of Lewes" (The Evening Standard).

Fitzroy House is an enchanting and iconic neo-Gothic masterpiece designed by Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott as a memorial library. It later became Lewes' first public library.

Our programme includes opera, dance, music and theatre, including opportunities to participate and volunteer. It is made possible by the enormous generosity of artists donating performances, including:

Tickets are priced on a sliding scale with General Admission capped at £15.  For all events there are a limited number of Open Doors tickets available, capped at £5.

Autumn at Fitzroy is produced by Fitzroy Lewes Cultural Collective, a newly formed CIC exploring what the building could become.  With an interdisciplinary approach and a focus on accessibility, we aim to build community, foster intergenerational connections, provide a platform for artists, nurture curiosity and provide opportunities for participation and learning.
