'Cracked' joins 'Virginia Woolf and the Hogarth Press' and 'Guerrilla Girls' as part of a season of exhibitions at Firle exploring whose stories get told and whose have been overlooked. Featuring sound sculptures, found poems, illustrations and ceramics, 'Cracked' explores the hidden histories of 'madness' related to 12 historic people who lived, worked and visited Charleston.
From Virginia Woolf to Grace Higgins, Charleston's former housekeeper; some of these stories we know well, others have been forgotten or deliberately ignored. This installation brings these histories to light and invites visitors to take part in this process.
