Drama Collective’s multi-generational performers to present classic Brothers’ Grimm adaptations and new spooky comedy at All Saints Centre in Lewes, East Sussex.
Local children, teens, and adults are set to take the stage this summer in a vibrant showcase of beloved fairy tales and original comedy.
Drama Collective will present a selection of Classic Brothers’ Grimm Tales, adapted for stage by Lead Tutor Tim Rowland, alongside "The Last Train to Sleepy Hollow," a spooky comedy written by David Pemberton and published by Lazy Bee Scripts. The performances will take place on Sunday, July 12 at the All Saints Centre in Lewes, inviting audiences of all ages to experience these stories.
Featuring a dynamic cast and crew, the event highlights Drama Collective's commitment to fostering creativity, confidence, and inclusive participation with an afternoon of enchanting entertainment that will draw on both time-honoured narratives and innovative new writing.
Audiences will be taken on a journey through the world of the Brothers’ Grimm with stage adaptations of "Rapunzel," "Puss in Boots," "Little Red Riding Hood," "Snow White," and "Sleeping Beauty." Each retelling has been carefully reimagined by Tim Rowland to capture the essence of the original stories, blending humour, suspense, and heart. The afternoon will also feature "The Last Train to Sleepy Hollow," a witty and spooky comedy following Arthur on a quest to save his godmother’s haunted house. Written by David Pemberton, whose works have been staged worldwide, the play sees Arthur uncover a cunning plot, battle the Bigwitch, and restore peace before catching the last train home. Drama Collective’s summer productions affirm the value and appreciation of community performing arts by providing a stage for local talent and stories that unite generations whilst building confidence and creativity.
