About

EDI - A Tick-box Exercise? The Impact of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Training in Transforming Organisational Culture

Vandu Languages and Diversity Resource International (DRI) are set to host our much-anticipated Annual Conference on March 6th, 2024, at the historic Lewes Town Hall.

Through an enriching experience from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm, the event aims to scrutinise the existing landscape of EDI as a framework, analyse its influence on organisational culture, assess its efficacy in achieving intended goals, and propose strategies for genuinely integrating a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion beyond formal training programmes.

Featuring local experts, the conference will include insightful contributions from David Ruebain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Culture, Equality, and Inclusion at Sussex University and consultant to the Premier League on equality issues.

Guest speakers include David Christie-Davies, Senior Social Worker at West Sussex County Council; Matt Vincent, Social Work Manager at West Sussex County Council; Razia Aziz, Founder and Co-director of the Equality Academy; and Tanya Brown Griffith, Programme Director at Sussex Health and Care Partnership.

Furthermore, the conference will be chaired by Kevin Richmond, Chief Executive at Sussex Community Foundation, and will include a special closing speech by Lela Kogbara, Co-Director of Place Matters.

These experts will provide valuable insights and propose strategies for genuinely integrating a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion beyond formal training programmes.

We aspire to bring together leaders from the public and voluntary sectors around Sussex, representatives from local councils and the NHS, HR professionals from local private sector businesses, academic institutions, EDI leaders across all sectors, and of course, our valued linguists, customers, volunteers, and community members.

After 6:30 pm, we will open the space for worthy networking opportunities and a delicious buffet.

While open to all, we kindly request confirming attendance through Eventbrite. The event can be found under the name 'Vandu Languages and Diversity Resource International Annual Conference 2024.'
