Join host Matthew Bannister and producer Natalie Steed as they record an episode of the multi-award-winning Folk on Foot podcast with the Brighton-based band Bird in the Belly on the South Downs Way.
The podcast, described as "immaculately produced" by the Times, involves Matthew walking and talking with top UK folk musicians in the landscapes that have inspired them – with the artists singing and playing on location. Folk on Foot has been travelling the length and breadth of the UK since 2018, with more than seventy episodes launched, featuring a "Who's Who" of contemporary folk talent recorded in locations ranging from Orkney and Shetland in the North to Port Isaac and Dartmoor in the South and from Galway Bay in the West to Robin Hood's Bay, Spurn Point and Wandlebury in the East.
This workshop will give you the chance to walk with Matthew and the band and follow the recording process as the Folk on Foot team tackle wind and weather and the unique challenges (and pleasures) of recording music in the open air. After the recording Matthew and Natalie will stay on to answer your questions.
