Come together with the community for an afternoon celebrating the traditional art of wildflower meadow management.

It's more than just conservation – it's a celebration!  Watch scything demos, try it yourself, and enjoy autumnal crafts, music, and refreshments, including a taste of switchel – the haymaker's (non-alcoholic) punch.

Scything is a gentle, effective way to support biodiversity: spreading wildflower seeds, maintaining healthy soil, and keeping brambles at bay.  It helps wildflowers return stronger, creating richer habitats for pollinators and other wildlife.

A chance to connect with nature, learn new skills, and enjoy the rhythms of land care — all in good company.  

Meet at the far end of The Sidings or follow signs from the Linklater Pavilion.
