After looking at South Heighton and Bishopstone in past talks at the Hillcrest Centre, Ian Everest turns his attention to Denton and Mount Pleasant. In his fully illustrated talk he’ll look at some of the less well-known aspects of the history of this area using old photographs, maps, and newspaper articles.

From Lewes take the C7 to Newhaven. At Newhaven, the C7 leads you on to the one-way system (A259). Take the right-hand lane and stay there until the T-junction. Turn right at that junction then stay in the left-hand lane. Turn left into South Road, then take the first right on to Hill Side. Turn left on to Hill Crest Road. The entrance to the Hill Crest Centre car park is immediately on your right.
From Brighton, Peacehaven, Seaford and Eastbourne take the A259 to Newhaven. Once you reach the one way system at Newhaven (A259) follow it round and turn left on to South Road. Take the first right into Hill Side, then left on to Hill Crest Road. The entrance to the Hill Crest Centre car park is immediately on your right.
By Bus: Buses to Newhaven include 12, 12A, 12X
From Brighton/Peacehaven take the bus to the Newhaven Lower Place bus stop, walk through to the High Street, turn right then first left on to Meeching Road. Cross over at the pedestrian lights and continue along to the end of Meeching Road. You will see the Hillcrest Centre on the other side of the road to the right.
From Seaford/Eastbourne take the bus to the Elim Church (Newhaven) bus stop. As you leave the bus, look to your left to see Norman Road. Walk to the end of Norman Road, where you will see the Hillcrest Centre in front of you.
By Train: The nearest station is Newhaven Town station. Follow directions to the town, crossing over the bridge. Continue round South Way (A259) and take the 3rd left on to Meeching Road. Continue along to the end of Meeching Road. You will see the Hillcrest Centre on the other side of the road to the right.
